Who is the Business Unicorn?
I have been working for over 30 years in a variety of positions and sectors. After starting my career as a financial auditor, I moved to Project Manager, Risk Manager, Director of Finance and HR, VP Finance and HR, CFO, COO and CEO. I’ve been fortunate enough to live and work in 5 different countries, spanning private banking, software development and professional services.
More importantly, I’ve filled tactical and strategic roles. Having to not only grasp the big picture, but also understand what is needed to turn vision into reality.
Why blog?
Now that I am in the final stretch of my career, I have been thinking about all the lessons I’ve learned over the years through reading, sharing ideas with others and through lived experience.
Rather than quietly end my professional life, I thought I would share what I have learned and hurl the occasional nugget into the void. Just in case someone is listening.
Why should you listen?
There is no shortage of people trying to share their particular wisdom with the world and the simple truth is that I am just one of many. A sparkling unicorn in a vast herd of unicorns.
Perhaps the difference is that I am not motivated by anything other than a genuine desire to help those trying to build a career, or learning to lead and manage others. I have nothing to gain, other than the satisfaction that comes from elevating others. My motivation is a simple love of learning and sharing what I have learned.
